Former Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson speaks of his admiration for the current crop of players at the club and admits that he "would have loved to have managed them".

Former Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is impressed by the club's current squad and has admitted that he "would have loved to have managed them".

The 64-year-old Swede became the Citizens' first manager from outside of the United Kingdom when he was appointed in 2007.

He was sacked by the club's previous Thai ownership following just one season in charge and he now concedes that he is slightly envious of the players available to Roberto Mancini.

He told the Daily Star: "It's an exciting time at City. I had a taste of it but then everything changed.

"But City's current squad - well I would have loved to have managed them."

Manchester City will claim their first English title for 44 years if they beat Queens Park Rangers later today.
