Liverpool will move for two new central midfielders during next summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to move for two new central midfielders during next summer's transfer window.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will all see their contracts expire at the end of the campaign, and it is possible that the trio will depart on free transfers next June.

According to Football Insider, midfield will be a priority position for Jurgen Klopp's side next summer, with the Merseyside giants planning to sign two players in that area of the field.

The report claims that one of those is likely to be a big-money arrival, while the second will be a cheaper option who would likely initially provide back up in the middle of the park.

Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham is said to be the leading target for Liverpool, although the Reds will face a host of competition for the England international.

Bellingham's asking price could also be difficult for Klopp's side, with Dortmund believed to be looking for a fee in the region of £130m for the teenager.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also being heavily linked with the youngster, but Manchester United are allegedly no longer in the running for his signature.

Liverpool have allegedly already decided to release Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain, but there is a chance that Milner could sign another 12-month deal with the Reds.

The 36-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Reds this term, including 12 outings in the Premier League, while he featured in all six of their Champions League group-stage fixtures.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Harvey Elliott and Thiago Alcantara have all been regulars in the midfield this term, while Curtis Jones recently signed a new long-term deal.

Liverpool were again expected to challenge for the Premier League title this season, but it has been a difficult opening to the 2022-23 campaign for the Merseyside club.

A total of 22 points from 14 matches has left them in sixth spot in the table, some 15 points behind leaders Arsenal on the same number of matches.

Liverpool have managed to progress to the knockout stage of the Champions League, though, with the club set to take on Real Madrid in the last-16 stage of the competition.

Meanwhile, the Reds will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup on December 22, which will be their first competitive fixture after the World Cup.
