Liverpool to offer quintet new deals?

Brendan Rodgers will reportedly give Liverpool the green light to begin contract talks with five of the club's key players.

Liverpool have reportedly decided to begin talks with five of the club's key players over possible new deals.

Daniel Sturridge, who joined from Chelsea in January 2013, will be offered a big improvement to his current terms as Liverpool look to tie him down for the foreseeable future before he appears at this summer's World Cup, according to Goal.com.

Brazilian attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho signed for Liverpool in the same window as Sturridge, and he could also be in line for a new deal due to his impressive form under manager Brendan Rodgers this season.

Despite struggling in the early stages of his career at Anfield, Jordan Henderson, whose current contract expires in 2016, is another player who looks likely to be rewarded for his role in making sure that Liverpool have the chance to win the Premier League title.

Rodgers recently revealed that defenders Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan are both likely to be offered new deals at the end of the campaign.
