Preview: Bournemouth vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole looks ahead to Liverpool's trip to Championship leaders Bournemouth in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Liverpool will be looking to brighten up their season on Wednesday night when they visit Championship leaders Bournemouth in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

The Reds saw their disappointing start to the campaign continue on the weekend as a 3-0 defeat at rivals Manchester United moved them down to 10th place in the Premier League table.

Brendan Rodgers's team booked their place in the last eight of the League Cup back in October with a dramatic 2-1 victory at home to Swansea City.

Liverpool appeared to be heading out of the competition before late goals from Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren turned the game on its head.

They are up against a Bournemouth side who sit at the top of the Championship standings thanks to an 11-game unbeaten run that has included eight victories.

The Cherries, who have won their last two games in the league, saw off West Bromwich Albion in the last round of the League Cup courtesy of a 2-1 triumph at Dean Court.

Brad Jones is due to continue in goal for Liverpool after starting in their defeat to Manchester United, while Daniel Sturridge is still missing through injury. Callum Wilson is expected to be in attack for the hosts, who could also recall Ian Harte.
