Leeds United manager Neil Warnock admits that he was out of order for suggesting Chris Kirkland went down too easily after being attack by a supporter on Friday.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has admitted that he was "out of order" for suggesting that Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland feigned injury.

Kirkland was attacked by a Leeds supporter during Friday's 1-1 draw after Michael Tonge had equalised for the visitors.

The Wednesday keeper required treatment following the incident, which Warnock suggested following the match was excessive.

Warnock insisted that he had been hasty with his response and wanted to apologise to Kirkland.

He told Sky Sports News: "Chris is a good professional and I was out order for saying that.

"Nobody should be allowed to come on the pitch and do that to Chris, they pushed him and after seeing it again I can understand why he was mad.

"We talk about chants but everybody was to blame, I got almost 90 minutes of abuse but you get used to it."

The Football Association have confirmed that they will investigate the incident.
