David Wagner upbeat despite defeat to Sheffield Wednesday

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner believes that there are positives to build on despite his side's 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has insisted that he is upbeat despite his side's 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Wagner took charge of his second game and watched as the Terriers took the lead in the second half through Sean Scannell in the 53rd minute.

However, Wednesday staged a late comeback to claim the three points as Lucas Joao netted a brace and Kieran Lee also got on the scoresheet, but Wagner believes that he has seen enough from his team to be optimistic for the future.

Wagner told the club's official website: "We had expected ups and downs. The first 45 minutes was okay and we were strong defensively.

"We scored early in the second half and then the game sped up, and Emyr Huws had a good chance to score a second.

"They should win this game because of the last 20 minutes - although maybe it was by one goal too many, but in the last 20 minutes we lost control of the game and ball. There are things we need to work on but I also saw things to work with."

Huddersfield are in 21st place in the Championship, and only out of the bottom three on goals scored.
