Angel di Maria opens Ligue 1 account as Paris Saint-Germain beat Guingamp

Angel di Maria scores his first league goal for Paris Saint-Germain as Laurent Blanc's men beat visitors Guingamp 3-0 at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1.

Angel di Maria opened his Ligue 1 scoring account as Paris Saint-Germain beat visitors Guingamp 3-0 at the Parc des Princes this evening.

Laurent Blanc's men caused problems from the off as David Luiz picked out Edinson Cavani inside the box, leaving Jonas Lossl to pull off a memorable save at the top-right corner after just four minutes.

The hosts took the lead with their next major chance in the 18th minute, as Javier Pastore moved the ball out from underneath him before driving home an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from distance.

The Parisians looked to assert their authority with another goal only for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to be denied by Lossl, this time as the stopper got down low to keep out the Swede's effort.

Guingamp sought to make use of what chances they had and Yannis Salibur almost brought them level, but he was denied by a clever save from Kevin Trapp at his top-left corner.

The visitors sensed that they could still grab something from the game, and they made decent inroads in the second half as Nicolas Benezet came close inside the PSG box.

In response, Paris continued to push to put the game to bed leaving Cavani and Ibrahimovic to go close with individual efforts just after the hour mark.

The headlines appeared to be reserved for former Manchester United man Di Maria, however, after he was able to steal in during the 76th minute to earn his first league goal for the current champions with a finish from close range.

Ibrahimovic had toiled all night in front of the visitors' goal and he was eventually awarded with his name on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute, after profiting from Di Maria's pass to turn the ball beyond Lossl.

The club legend should have sealed a brace just moments later when Cavani was brought down inside the area by Salibur, but he was unable to find a way past Lossl who guessed the right way to save his penalty.
