Roberto Martinez: 'Everton will make signings this week'

Roberto Martinez claims that Everton will be signing new players over the coming week.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that the club is expected to finalise new signings in the coming days.

The Toffees have been linked with moves for Brazilian international Bernard and Dynamo Kiev playmaker Andriy Yarmolenko, while defender Ramiro Funes Mori was spotted in the stands during the club's 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

However, Martinez has confirmed that the Blues intend to bring in new faces over the next week.

He is quoted by Click Liverpool as saying: "I think it's going to be important, the next few days, that we get a few [players in]. I expect a couple of signings to happen, but no news in anything specific because nothing has been concluded.

"Ramiro Funes Mori was at the game and it was down the agreement we have with River Plate. We hope that in the next 24 hours we'll have a bit more of a clear idea if we can clinch the deal.

"He's a player that has won the Copa Libertadores, is 24, left-footed centre-half that would fit in the squad extremely well, with a winning mentality. You don't get many opportunities to bring in a player that has won the Copa Libertadores and bring that winning mentality into the squad."

Martinez also refuted further suggestions that John Stones would join Chelsea.
