Everton defender Seamus Coleman urges his side to bounce back from their late defeat at the hands of Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has issued a rallying cry to his side following their late 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in Monday night's Merseyside derby.

The Toffees were in control in the first half at Goodison Park, but failed to capitalise on their dominance and went into the break without having had a single shot on target.

Liverpool fought back in the second half before eventually nicking a win deep into eight minutes of stoppage time, but Coleman warned that Everton could not afford to wallow in the disappointment of defeat.

"It would have been great to have gone in at half time with the lead, but it wasn't to be," Coleman told evertontv.

"We had to go back out in the second half and fight and I thought we did well in terms of battling hard, but we didn't produce enough in the final third. I thought we did enough to keep them out, but, unfortunately, it wasn't to be our night.

"We've got a busy Christmas period coming up and the Premier League waits for nobody. We've got to dust ourselves down and go again."

Everton now sit ninth in the Premier League table having won just two of their last 12 games.
