Preview: Charlton Athletic vs. Derby County

Sports Mole looks ahead to Derby County's visit to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic in the Championship.

Charlton Athletic and Derby County will both be hoping to continue their unbeaten starts to the new Championship season when they meet at The Valley on Tuesday evening.

Goalkeeper Nick Pope could feature for the hosts after replacing the injured Stephen Henderson during the second half of their 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic at the weekend.

Summer signing Franck Moussa may also have done enough to earn himself a place in the starting lineup after netting the winner against Wigan after coming off the bench.

Meanwhile, Steve McClaren will be keen to see more attacking intent from his Derby side following their goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The visitors will continue to be without George Thorne, who is facing a lengthy absence with an ACL injury, but otherwise have a healthy squad for their second away match in three days.

With the two away matches coming so close together, the visitors may opt to rotate their squad to keep the players fresh, with Johnny Russell having featured for just 30 minutes on Saturday.

Derby won both of their matches against Charlton last season.
