Liverpool allegedly determine how much it would cost to sign an established Premier League forward in one of the next two transfer windows.

Liverpool have reportedly discovered the asking price of Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro.

The Merseyside giants have had no issues scoring goals during the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, as shown in Sunday's 6-3 victory at Tottenham Hotspur.

Arne Slot's side now sit four points clear at the top of the table having netted 37 times in their 16 matches in the top flight.

Nevertheless, the future of Mohamed Salah remains very much in the air, despite positive negotiations having allegedly been held with a player who has 26 goal and assist contributions in this season's Premier League.

However, while there is uncertainty surrounding the Egypt international, the club's hierarchy must consider potential alternatives to their leading talisman.

Liverpool learn Pedro asking price>

As per Football Insider, Liverpool have been able to determine how much it would cost to sign Pedro from Brighton.

The report suggests that the Seagulls would demand in the region of £60m for a player who cost £30m when arriving from Watford 18 months ago.

Pedro has contributed 24 goals and six assists from his 51 appearances for Brighton, 19 of those being recorded in the Premier League.

Although the one-cap Brazil international holds a contract until 2028, Brighton's hierarchy have rarely stood in a player's way should their asking price be met.

Liverpool are said to be monitoring his progress at the present time, with any approach more likely to take place in the summer rather than in January.

A perfect addition?

Slot already has a number of versatile attackers at his disposal and Pedro would prove to be an asset regardless of whether Salah stays or leaves Anfield.

That said, it is questionable whether Liverpool would be prepared to pay £60m on a player who may find himself in and out of the first XI rather than a guaranteed starter.

Furthermore, Pedro has largely been used as a number 10 at Brighton this season. Slot generally uses an attack-minded midfielder in that role rather than a recognised forward.

From a different perspective, however, Pedro could be viewed as a younger alternative to Federico Chiesa who has struggled with injury this campaign.
