Paramount Pictures is reportedly developing plans for a fourth Sonic The Hedgehog movie for release in 2027.
The live-action adaptation of the video game franchise launched in 2020 and has spawned two sequels, the most recent of which was released this month.
The film has had strong reviews from critics and has proven a Christmas holiday box office success, grossing $62m (£49.3m) in its three-day opening weekend.
According to Variety, the fourth film has now officially entered development at Paramount and is being eyed for a spring 2027 release.
The third film introduced Shadow The Hedgehog (Keanu Reeves), a classic enemy of Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba), while the post-credits scene suggested that Amy Rose and Metal Sonic could be key parts of the next installment.
