Burnley come from behind to beat Nottingham Forest

Burnley see off Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Turf Moor after going 1-0 down.

Burnley have come from 1-0 down to beat Nottingham Forest tonight in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

The home side put Forest under some early pressure with Keith Treacy almost finding the head of Sam Vokes from a cross.

Danny Ings was put through by David Edgar, but failed to convert his shot as Sean Dyche's side pressed for an early goal.

The opening goal, however, came for the away side. After Jamie Paterson had beaten Kieran Trippier, Dexter Blackstock played in a teasing cross which Matt Derbyshire gratefully flicked in.

The Clarets had a good chance to respond just minutes later, but Treacy's whipped cross was glanced wide by Vokes.

However, Burnley drew level with a volley from Ings just before the break.

The second half started slowly with neither team creating a goalscoring opportunity.

Just before the hour, Junior Stanislas attempted to curl the ball past Dorus de Vries, but the keeper was equal to it.

De Vries was then at full stretch to deny Treacy.

Derbyshire should have made it 2-1 to Forest, but with just Tom Heaton to beat he placed his shot over the bar.

That miss was punished by the Clarets, who took the lead when Ings headed in from Stanislas's cross for his second of the night.

Forest substitute Ishmael Miller could have levelled the match but failed to beat Heaton, who tipped over the shot.
