Borussia Monchengladbach edge past Augsburg

Borussia Monchengladbach climb up to fifth place in the Bundesliga table with a 1-0 win at home to struggling Augsburg.

Borussia Monchengladbach have moved up to sixth place in the Bundesliga table with a narrow 1-0 win at home to struggling Augsburg.

The only goal of the game came in the 26th minute when Filip Daems converted from the penalty spot after Kevin Vogt was sent off for his foul on Peniel Mlapa.

Mlapa nearly doubled the home side's lead minutes later, but his effort struck the post.

Monchengladbach were denied by the woodwork again on 73 minutes as Mike Hanke's drive came back off the post.
