Alan Pardew reveals that the bids received for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans have so far been 'nowhere near acceptable'.

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew has reiterated that his side are prepared to sell defender Jonny Evans this month "if the price is right".

The Northern Ireland international has been a rumoured target for Manchester City and Arsenal since the summer window due to his consistent form at the back.

Evans's valuation has put off both clubs in the past, but reports this week suggested that Albion were close to agreeing a player-plus-cash deal with the Gunners that would see Mathieu Debuchy swap sides.

Asked about the latest rumour, Pardew told reporters at his weekly press conference: "That's not a deal that's been put to us... someone has released that and it's not true. Jonny is still at the football club and we haven't had a bid put to us that is anywhere near acceptable.

"We've had a couple of enquiries of what we would be looking for, and the answer has been 'we're not going to tell you'. You make a bid and you'll get some gauge.

"What I will confirm is what you already know, Jonny Evans is a target for other clubs, we might sell if the price is right, that's that deal, everything else is pure speculation.

Man City are rumoured to have turned their attention elsewhere heading into the final days of the window, with Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte seen as a better value option.
