Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta hails Kai Havertz for his performance in Saturday's 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta lavished praise on Kai Havertz for the Germany international's performance in Saturday's 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Havertz won the penalty which Bukayo Saka converted to send the Gunners 1-0 ahead in the 45th minute of the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, according to stats provided by WhoScored, he had a pass success of 70%, won four aerial duels and made four tackles during an all-round performance.

Havertz has scored 13 goals and registered six assists in 49 appearances for Arsenal this term following his arrival from Chelsea during last summer's transfer window.

Arteta was asked about the German following the clash against Bournemouth, and he was full of praise for his performance in the English capital.

"He was unbelievable today, honestly. Everything that he did, intelligent, timing, the movements, how he keeps the ball, the way he goes to the press, how he links the play, understanding of the game. He was unbelievable today," said the Arsenal head coach during his post-match press conference.

Arteta also said that the first half against Bournemouth was the best 45 minutes that his side have produced during the entire 2023-24 campaign.

"We started the game with probably the best first half we've played all season. I think we were unbelievable, we were super composed on the ball, really aggressive without the ball, we generated so many chances, we could have scored three, four or five easily," he added.

"But we didn't, we scored one and then credit to Bournemouth as well, they changed a few things, they created some issues for us and the game became a little bit more open.

"That was something we wanted to avoid, but within that game as well we resolved certain situations in the right way and we were very efficient in front of goal to score the goals, and maintain another clean sheet.

"Because of the quality of opponents you play, you have to navigate through those moments. We knew that. If you score two or three goals in the first half, it's a different game. We didn't, so you better be so good at managing those moment."

Arteta also said that he is "very excited" ahead of Arsenal's final two matches of the Premier League season against Manchester United and Everton.

"Very excited. We have done it for nine and a half months now so it's two weeks to go. We really want to get it done. We are closer to where we were yesterday and hopefully we can bring that title here," said Arteta.

The Gunners are currently four points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the table, but the reigning champions have two games in hand.

David Raya's clean sheet for Arsenal against Bournemouth saw the Spaniard secure the Golden Glove award for the 2023-24 campaign.
