Arsene Wenger wants "strong" response from his team against Everton

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger urges his team to respond in a "strong way" against Everton following midweek's disappointment in the Champions League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that his team will aim to respond in a "strong way" against Everton on Sunday following their Champions League disappointment in midweek.

The Gunners have an uphill struggle to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a 3-1 defeat to Monaco in the first leg of their last-16 encounter at the Emirates.

A number of Arsenal supporters reacted angrily on social media following the match, but Wenger has insisted that the season is not over as the team currently sit third in the Premier League table.

"It's our aim to respond," Wenger said in today's press conference. "We are on a strong run in the league and have to respond in a strong way on Sunday. I expect a strong reaction because it's a difficult competition. We are back in the top three and have the chance to stabilise our position and we want to take it.

"You're not a fan for one game but for the club, and no matter how good your team or club is you play 55 games per year and have moments where you are disappointed, but we are third in the league and on a strong run and we don't play to go down.

"We want to finish the season in a strong way. We are still in the Champions League - don't rule us out too quickly."

Arsenal have lost twice in their last 11 league fixtures.
