Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been ruled out of Sunday's Premier League game with Sheffield United after coming down with flu.

Arsenal will reportedly have to cope without captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for their trip to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 31-year-old started on the bench in midweek against Slavia Prague, but he appeared as a substitute to set up Nicolas Pepe in their 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final bout.

However, The Athletic's David Ornstein reports that Aubameyang has since come down with flu, and as a result he will not be available for Sunday's trip to Bramall Lane.

It remains to be seen if Aubameyang will be cleared to play in next week's second leg against Slavia, but he has endured a disappointing season overall, netting nine goals in 25 Premier League appearances for Mikel Arteta's side.

The report adds that Emile Smith Rowe is also missing for the trip to Bramall Lane, as the England Under-21s international has not recovered from an ankle sprain that he sustained in midweek.

The duo join long-term absentees Kieran Tierney and David Luiz in the treatment room, while Martin Odegaard is considered a major doubt due to ankle problems of his own.
