Caroline Wozniacki survives blip to reach Wimbledon third round

Fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki overcomes Denisa Allertova in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon third round.

Caroline Wozniacki has survived a second-set blip to earn her place in the Wimbledon third round with a win over Denisa Allertova.

The fifth seed blew a 5-1 lead in the second set as Allertova threatened a fightback before she eventually secured a 6-1 7-6(6) victory over the world number 83.

In the first round, Wozniacki struggled to find her range during the early stages, but there was no such problem on this occasion as she broke Allertova twice on the way to breezing to the opening set.

Allertova quickly got herself on the board in the second, but she couldn't prevent Wozniacki stringing together five games in a row to move to the brink of the third round.

However, Allertova wasn't finished, and the Czech registered five successive games on her own to take Wozniacki into a tie-break.

The former world number one rediscovered her touch, though, grinding it out 8-6 to advance through to the last 32.
