Roger Federer too strong for Sam Querrey

Seven-time winner Roger Federer is through to the Wimbledon third round with a routine win over Sam Querrey.

Roger Federer has earned a place in the Wimbledon third round with a straight-sets win over Sam Querrey.

The second seed is looking for a record eighth crown at SW19 and he encountered little problem in overcoming the American by a 6-4 6-2 6-2 scoreline.

Querrey's serve suits the grass courts of Wimbledon, but Federer relishes the opportunity to play against the big hitters and one break of serve was enough for him to move into a one-set advantage.

The Swiss continued to look for openings at the start of the second and after opening up a 2-0 lead, he coasted through the remainder of the set to move to the brink of the third round in just 57 minutes.

Querrey soon found himself a break behind in the third, and although he brought up just his second break-point chance in the final game, Federer brushed it off to advance through to the next stage.
