Andy Murray is confident that he will perform at his best at this year's US Open as he prepares to take on Alex Bogomolov in the first round at Flushing Meadows.

British number one Andy Murray believes that he has enough ability to play his best tennis at the US Open this week.

The 25-year-old, who clinched a gold medal after defeating Roger Federer at the London Olympic Games, begins his search for his first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows later today.

"I have still had some up and down matches away from the Grand Slams the last few years," the Daily Mail quotes Murray as saying.

"But when I have played in the grand slams I think I've played most of my best tennis or close to it, and I hope that will be the case again on Monday."

The Scotsman, who reached the US Open final in 2008, will go up against Alex Bogomolov in the first round this afternoon.
