Tommy Haas has kept up his recent resurgence with a straight-sets victory over Gilles Simon in the second round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
The German world number 25 broke his French opponent twice on his way to taking the first set 6-2.
The 34-year-old saved a break point at 1-2 in the second before breaking Simon twice to close out the contest 6-3.
Haas's win has set up a third-round encounter with Radek Stepanek following the Czech's win over Olympic bronze medallist Juan Martin del Potro.
