Novak Djokovic admits that he is the player to beat at the moment after his Rogers Cup victory.

Novak Djokovic believes that being the world number one hands him a mental advantage over his opponents.

The Serbian defeated Mardy Fish 6-2 3-6 6-2 to claim the Rogers Cup in Montreal yesterday and record his ninth ATP title of the year.

The 24-year-old, who has won 53 out of possible 54 matches since January, said that being crowned the best in the world provides him with the right balance.

"It is probably a little mental advantage when you get on the court knowing that you're the player to beat," Djokovic told reporters after his victory.

"On the other hand it adds the pressure and expectations as well because you are the favourite to win each match you play, whoever you play against.

"It gives me the best balance in the end."

Djokovic also confirmed that he is suffering with a slight shoulder injury but will be fit for the US Open.
