Andy Murray has laboured his way to the third round of the Vienna Open after seeing off Vasek Pospisil 6-4 6-4 this evening.
The Scot, making his debut in the tournament in a bid to boost his ranking and make the ATP World Tour Finals in London next month, began slowly against his Canadian opponent.
Murray missed several chances early on, but soon broke serve at 5-4 and was able to see out the first set.
In the second set, he let a 3-1 lead slip, but his experience proved crucial as he held off five more break chances for Pospisil.
The 2013 Wimbledon winner's 470th career victory has brought him level with Fabrice Santoro in 50th place on the Open era win list.
