David Ferrer eases into final eight of Paris Masters

David Ferrer beats compatriot Fernando Verdasco 6-1 6-2 to advance through to the final eight at the Paris Masters.

David Ferrer has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Fernando Verdasco.

The world number six came out on top 6-1 6-2 in less than one hour to keep alive his hopes of reaching next month's World Tour Finals.

Verdasco lost serve on a couple of occasions in the first set, which allowed Ferrer to get a foothold on proceedings.

It was a similar story in the second, as Ferrer broke his compatriot three times to ease into the final eight.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Kei Nishikori, who meet later today, await in the next round.
