Tomas Berdych pleased with Dubai progress

Tomas Berdych describes his 6-2 6-1 victory over Sergiy Stakhovsky in round two of the Dubai Tennis Championships as a "solid win".

Tomas Berdych had described his victory over Sergiy Stakhovsky in round two of the Dubai Tennis Championships as a "solid win".

The Czech third seed breezed into the quarter-finals of the tournament on Wednesday thanks to a 6-2 6-1 triumph against the Ukrainian.

"It was a solid win," Berdych is quoted as saying by the ATP's official website. "Sergiy is a very tough and tricky opponent.

"Every single point is different - slices, with spin, short balls, deep balls. Really, everything is so varied. It's nothing what I really like. Still, I was able to manage it very well."

Berdych will now face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the semi-finals.
