Nicolas Almagro has won a spot in the third round of the French Open after coming through a 6-4 6-3 7-5 clash with Marcos Baghdatis.
The number 12 seed began the contest on the front foot and looked comfortable on the clay court as he completed a number of impressive forehand shots and managed to answer any threat from Baghdatis in the second-round clash.
Almagro was buoyed by the one-set lead and took the same form into the second set, however the Spaniard faced a tougher challenge from Baghdatis, who tried to test his opponent but yet again failed to force a comeback and relinquished the set 6-4.
Baghdatis once again tried to utilise his power with one last chance to stay in contention for the third-round spot, but Amagro managed to just edge the third set to end victorious.
