Jonny May brace helps Gloucester to win

Jonny May scores two tries to help Gloucester to a 27-11 win over Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership.

A clinical display from Gloucester helped them to a 27-11 win over Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

The visitors were much the stronger in the first half, as Rob Cook kicked four penalties and Jonny May crossed the try line, giving Gloucester an 11-point lead at half time.

Northampton finished the opening 40 minutes a man short after GJ van Velze was sin-binned during a strong spell from Gloucester.

The pressure from the visitors continued after the break, with May adding his second try of the game, but the 22-year-old found himself in the sin bin shortly after for a side entry.

May's absence allowed Phil Dowson to get the Saints back into the match with their first try of match, but poor discipline saw the hosts reduced to 14 men again with Samu Manoa shown a yellow card, before another penalty allowed Cook to extend Gloucester's lead further.

The win moves Gloucester above their opponents, and into fourth in the league table.
