The Rugby Football Union has described England captain Lewis Moody’s leg injury as a ‘mild ligament strain’.
The Bath flanker was helped off the field during the second half of England’s victory over Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.
Despite fears that the injury could rule the 33-year-old out of next month’s Rugby World Cup, Moody himself downplayed the severity of the knock at the weekend.
Although England are optimistic, it has been revealed that Moody is unlikely to play before the side fly to New Zealand for the tournament.
“He will not feature in Saturday's game against Wales at the Millennium Stadium but the medical team are optimistic of his progress,” the RFU said.
England coach Martin Johnson will reveal his 30-man World Cup side on August 22.
