Australia's Will Genia faces six-month layoff

Stand-in Australia captain Will Genia faces a six-month layoff following a knee injury picked up in the victory over South Africa.

Australia's stand-in captain for the Rugby Championship Will Genia is expected to be sidelined for six months with a knee injury.

Scans show that Genia has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans said: "Will Genia is not there and Will Genia is a special player, there's no doubt. But as we've seen in recent times it's a team game and no-one can do it by themselves and the group that combines effectively is more dangerous than one man.''

Australia are already without captains James Horwill and David Pocock.
