Salford Red Devils prove too strong for Leigh Centurions

Salford Red Devils move up to second place in the Super League Qualifiers, courtesy of a 46-18 victory over Leigh Centurions at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Salford Red Devils have made it two wins from two in the Super League Qualifiers by beating Leigh Centurions 46-18 at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Having found a breakthrough four minutes in through Ben Jones-Bishop's try, the hosts were made to wait until the half-hour mark before adding more points.

Scott Taylor was the man to get the second score of the afternoon, prior to centre Iain Thornley further extending Salford's advantage heading into the break.

Centurions' task was made all the more difficult when Rangi Chase found the whitewash three minutes after the restart, but signs of a comeback then began to emerge.

Both Adam Higson and Ryan Brierley found a way through in quick succession to ensure that the contest was not quite over with over 24 minutes still to play.

Salford then put on the afterburners, though, adding further tries through Junior Sa'u, Niall Evalds and a second from Dobson to pull well away from their opponents.

It was then left to Greg Johnson to round things off 10 minutes from time with Salford's eighth try of the afternoon, rendering Gregg McNally's consolation try redundant to secure a thumping victory.
