Huddersfield Giants do enough to edge past Castleford Tigers

Huddersfield Giants withstand a spirited Castleford Tigers fightback to secure a 24-16 win in their Super League clash at The Jungle.

Huddersfield Giants have withstood a spirited Castleford Tigers fightback to secure a 24-16 win in their Super League clash at The Jungle.

The hosts were denied a try within the first three minutes when Denny Solomona was judged to have knocked on as he put the ball down.

Following a tense but scoreless spell, the visitors went on to take the lead through tries from Craig Huby and Aaron Murphy.

Jake Webster then grabbed one back for the Tigers before Ukuma Ta'ai scored just before the break for a half-time scoreline of 18-4 to Huddersfield.

Castleford mounted a spirited fightback after the restart as Ben Roberts broke the line before rounding Scott Grix and scoring in the 47th minute.

Michael Shenton then put the hosts to within two points of their opponents by finishing off a great move, but they were ultimately undone when Eorl Crabtree burrowed his way under a couple of Tigers defenders to score and effectively seal the win for the visitors.
