England's James Graham wants London 2012 "noise" for New Zealand clash

England star James Graham calls on fans to recreate the London 2012 atmosphere when the rugby league side take on New Zealand at the Olympic Stadium next month.

England rugby league star James Graham has called on supporters to recreate the London 2012 atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium when the nation take on New Zealand next month.

The ground, where Team GB stars including Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill won Olympic gold, will stage its first ever international rugby league match on November 7.

The clash is part of a three-game series, with matches against the Kiwis also being held in Hull and Wigan at the KC Stadium and DW respectively.

"I remember watching the Olympics in 2012 and seeing Mo Farah win gold," said Graham. "The fans in the stadium that day nearly screamed the place down!

"We'll put in a good performance against the Kiwis when we go there to match Mo's and Team GB so the crowd can do the same for us. English spectators make so much noise at games, it really gives us a boost.

"There's massive appetite for the big games over here. I was at the Super League Grand Final the other week and I couldn't believe the atmosphere and show that the sport put on, it was impressive. It's not long to go now until it's our turn to put on a show, I know plenty of fans will be there to pack out the Olympic Stadium and cheer us to a famous win."

Meanwhile, England head coach Steve McNamara has claimed that Sam Tomkins is edging closer to fitness ahead of the series.
