Kerr returns from seven-month layoff
Midfielder Scott Kerr returns for York City seven months after a cruciate injury.

Scott Kerr made his return to the pitch today after seven months out injured.

The York City midfielder came on in the second half for Patrick McLaughlin in the Minster Men's goalless draw with Rotherham United.

The 30-year-old picked up a cruciate ligament injury in the side's FA Trophy semi-final against Luton in March.

Ahead of today's game he told The Press: "It's good to be back and to pull on a York strip again, run out with the lads and play a competitive game.

"I have been back a couple of weeks and gradually increased training, warm up, tackling and into the full game. I am just glad I have come out of it. I have seen the physio and the knee feels great. It is just a matter of managing it and giving the gaffer a little headache."

York returned to the football league by winning the Conference playoffs after an eight-year absence.
