New Wolves boss Dean Saunders is "really pleased" with Friday's 1-1 draw with Blackburn in his first game in charge of the club.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders has admitted that he is "really pleased" with Friday night's 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

Saunders took charge of the side for the first time at Molineux following his recent move from Doncaster Rovers.

Jordan Rhodes gave the visitors a first-half lead from the penalty spot, but Roger Johnson earned Wolves a point with a late header.

"We get a point and it's important we got off to a start where we haven't lost," Saunders told Sky Sports News. "I think we obviously need a few wins but that's a good start. I'm really pleased with that.

"I thought we were a bit unlucky. We were getting balls across the face of the goal. The spirit, it was outstanding from everybody and that's what I want and it's also what the supporters want."

The draw has lifted Wolves up to 17th place in the table.
