Half-Time Report: Blackburn Rovers lead at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jordan Rhodes's penalty gives Blackburn a half-time lead over Wolves in this evening's Championship meeting at Molineux.

Blackburn Rovers have a 1-0 lead over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the break in this evening's Championship meeting at Molineux.

New Wolves manager Dean Saunders was given a positive reception by the home fans before the match as he took charge of the side for the first time since his move from Doncaster Rovers on Sunday.

Roger Johnson saw his volley flash wide in the opening stages before Jordan Rhodes missed a glorious chance for Rovers.

The striker broke the offside trap to have a clear run at goal, but some uncharacteristic indecision allowed goalkeeper Carl Ikeme to save.

Blackburn shotstopper Jake Kean was called into action at the other end soon after when he kept out Kevin Foley's poked effort.

The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot with 24 minutes on the clock following Bakary Sako's dubious foul on Ruben Rochina.

The midfielder was adjudged to have tripped the Spaniard, which allowed Rhodes to calmly sweep home his 14th goal of the season.

Rochina and Colin Kazim-Richards both had attempts at goal towards the end of the half, but they were unable to find the net.
