Wigan Athletic held by Bournemouth

Euan O'Kane scores from range to give Bournemouth an FA Cup win to remember against a much-changed Wigan Athletic.

Bournemouth continued their excellent run under Eddie Howe by forcing a replay against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium this afternoon in the FA Cup.

Roberto Martinez decided to make nine changes to his side and they fell behind just before the break to a drive from distance by Eunan O'Kane, who gave Mike Pollitt no chance with a powerful finish.

Wigan brought on Chilean international Angelo Henriquez at the interval in an effort to change the match.

The Manchester United loanee almost made an instant impact but his header struck the bar early in the second half.

Josh McQuoid nearly doubled the visitors' advantage soon after when his long-range effort went inches over the bar.

Emmerson Boyce had a promising drive blocked as the match turned into an end-to-end encounter.

Maynor Figueroa went agonisingly close to an equaliser 20 minutes from time, launching a half-volley from range which thumped off the crossbar.

Wigan's pressure finally told when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Figueroa, which Jordi Gomez duly dispatched at the second time of asking.

The Cherries stayed strong in the final 15 minutes to earn a replay against the Premier League outfit.
