West Ham United have reportedly been left stunned by the financial demands that have been made by Dimitri Payet's agent.
It is believed that the Hammers are open to the prospect of handing the playmaker a new contract, despite the fact that he only joined the club on a five-year deal in the summer.
Payet is widely considered to have been West Ham's most influential player in victories over the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City this season.
However, while the East Londoners are prepared to reward the Frenchman with improved terms, they have baulked at the £125,000-a-week proposal made by Payet's representative, according to The Mirror.
The report adds that the 28-year-old currently earns £68,000 a week, with an extra £10,000 every time that he is included in Slaven Bilic's starting lineup.
West Ham are still said to be hopeful that an agreement will be reached, with further discussions planned in the near future.
