Shang Long misses out for West Brom as Cardiff City look to upset the Premier League side in the FA Cup third round.

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson will not be able to call upon the services of Shane Long for the FA Cup tie against Cardiff this weekend.

The Irishman is expected to miss out for another two weeks despite having an injection for a back problem.

Elsewhere for the Baggies, Somen Tchoyi may replace Jerome Thomas, who is struggling with a groin problem on the right.

High-flying Cardiff are only eight spots behind West Brom in the Football League and will be hoping to overhaul their Premier League counterparts.

They will look to Peter Whittingham and Kenny Miller to provide the firepower to see them advance and perhaps replicate their run to the final in 2008.

The last time the two clubs met at the Hawthorns was in the Championship a little over two years ago when goals from Chris Burke and Whittingham gave the Bluebirds all three points.

Current Form:

West Brom: LWWDLL
Cardiff: WDLDWW

Possible lineups:

West Brom: Foster; Jones, Dawson, McAuley, Shorey; Tchoyi, Morrison, Scharner, Dorrans; Cox, Odemwingie

Cardiff: Marshall; Taylor, Hudson, Blake, Turner; Whittingham, Cowie, Gunnarsson, Mason; Miller, Ralls

Sports Mole says: 2-1
