Fernando Roig Nogueroles: "Players don't want to leave"

Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Nogueroles claims that the Yellow Submarine are in a strong position in the transfer market this summer.

Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Nogueroles believes that the Yellow Submarine are in a strong position in the transfer market this summer because players do not want to leave.

A successful 2013-14 campaign, which saw the club finish sixth on their return to La Liga, has intensified interest in a number of their key players.

However, Nogueroles has said that the former Champions League side are focused on incomings rather than outgoings.

"The Villarreal players don't want to leave, and that's good, it speaks well of us. Therefore, to leave, they have to get great offers, the best offers, and we're working on it," Nogueroles told Agencia EFE.

"The club wants to be strengthened, but also wants to fulfil its commitments. That is the great premise.

"We have some things in mind, and we want to finalize the squad before the start of the preseason, but it's not easy, so therefore we have to do things bit by bit."

Villarreal return to pre-season training in the middle of next month.
