Former Valencia keeper Santiago Canizares urges Gary Neville to resign

Former Valencia goalkeeper Santiago Canizares calls for Gary Neville to apologise and resign as head coach.

Former Valencia goalkeeper Santiago Canizares has called for Gary Neville's resignation following Wednesday night's 7-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final.

Neville, who took on his first managerial role at the Mestalla in December, is yet to pick up a win in eight La Liga games.

Following last night's humiliation in the Copa del Rey, Canizares took to Twitter to complain about Neville and demanded an apology from the 40-year-old.

He tweeted: "I expected the coach's resignation, as well as some apologies. I may be ignorant, but I'm surprised he hasn't done it, I thought he was honest."

After the match, Neville was adamant that he will not step down from his position at the Spanish club.
