Jurgen Klinsmann credits youngsters for win over the Netherlands

Jurgen Klinsmann highlights "the huge learning curve" of playing teams like the Netherlands after USA's 4-3 win on Friday night.

USA national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann praised his side and highlighted the impact of his younger players after two late goals gave his team a 4-3 win over the Netherlands in Amsterdam.

A brace from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and a goal from Manchester United's new recruit Memphis Depay had put the Netherlands in control of the friendly, only for Danny Williams and Bobby Wood to win the game at the death.

"It's a huge learning curve when you play teams like Holland, you can only benefit from that. It doesn't matter what the result is," Klinsmann told NBC Sports.

"We need to learn to turn games around, to take games like knockout games. We have to have that mindset that we can turn things around.

"For all these youngsters, this is what they need to smell. This is what they need to see. They need to go to that tempo."

Despite the comeback victory, Klinsmann also warned his side that they will need to be more creative in the attacking third if they are to be successful at the Gold Cup in July.

"Obviously it's a good feeling now that we are growing. We all now that the Gold Cup is a completely different ballgame for us.

"When you come to Europe it's a far more open game because they go at you. The first four to five games in the Gold Cup, they will play very defensively, and we will need to find other ways to score goals."

The result is the first time in 23 matches that the USA have come from behind to win a game.
