Adelaide United too good for Sydney FC

Adelaide United beat Sydney FC to condemn the home side to their seventh defeat in their last 10 matches.

Adelaide United have secured a comfortable 3-0 win away at Sydney FC.

Adelaide started well and took the lead with just 15 minutes played. Fabio Ferreira went down the right, controlled the ball and found Bruce Djite, who unleashed a powerful shot that beat Vedran Janjetovic.

Sydney tried hard to find the equaliser, but it was soon 2-0 to the away side.

Ferreira dashed towards goal and beat two defenders. He then fired a shot at goal which Janjetovic was unable to keep out.

The second half saw the hosts apply more pressure on the away defence, with Milos Dimitrijevic finding Ranko Despotovic, who stretched at the far post but was unable to connect with the ball. Despotovic had another chance, but he fired wide from six yards.

Adelaide struggled to recreate their dominance of the first half, but wrapped up the win with a third late in the game. Sergio Cirio beat Ali Abbas and delivered a cross to Jeronimo Neumann, who poked the ball in from close range.
