Danny Mills: 'Swansea City would be naive to sack Garry Monk'

Danny Mills claims that there is "no realistic replacement" to take over from Garry Monk as manager of Swansea City.

Former England international Danny Mills has claimed that Swansea City would be making the wrong decision if they sacked manager Garry Monk.

The 36-year-old has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks after a poor run of form that has seen the Swans win just one of their previous nine league games.

It has been reported that the Swansea board are considering Monk's position in charge of the club, but Mills believes that they would be foolish to allow him to leave.

"Of course it's a results business, but this is a club that has a long-term plan and has stuck with managers," he told BBC Sport. "Who would come in to replace him? Who could do a better job?

"Realistically in terms of the budget where are Swansea's expectations? Top half of the table? I think that would be considered a success.

"I think Garry Monk will end up finishing anywhere between eighth and 14th. That's relative success. That middle section of the Premier League this season is so very, very tight. I think to pull the trigger now with no realistic replacement to come in would be a little bit naive."

Swansea are currently 14th in the Premier League table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
