Francesco Guidolin 'encouraged' by early Swansea City signs

New Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin says that he has been impressed with what he has seen of the club during his short time in charge.

New Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin has said that he is encouraged by what he has seen of the club so far.

The Italian watched on from the stands as Swansea won for just the third time since August on Monday night, beating Watford 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium courtesy of an Ashley Williams goal.

Guidolin was pleased with the first-half display from that match in particular and believes that he will be able to build on the foundations at the club in order to drag them away from the bottom three.

"The initial signs are encouraging. I was impressed by how cordial everyone was," Guidolin is quoted as saying by PA.

"The first half against Watford was our best performance in some time. I have been following Swansea for the past month and I am convinced we have a great base to work from.

"I will try to implement my work on things that make a big difference like focus, concentration and intensity while trying to get them to play good football."

Guidolin's first match in charge of the Swans will come at Goodison Park on Sunday as they travel to face Everton in the Premier League.
