Sunderland to appoint Dick Advocaat as manager?

Former Rangers and Netherlands boss Dick Advocaat is reportedly being considered for the Sunderland manager's job following Gus Poyet's sacking.

Former Netherlands coach Dick Advocaat is reportedly being considered to become the next manager of Sunderland.

The Premier League strugglers sacked Gus Poyet on Monday following their 4-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Aston Villa.

Advocaat has been out of work since stepping down from his post as Serbia manager in November.

The 67-year-old has never worked in England before but he does have experience of British football, having managed Rangers between 1998 and 2001.

The Dutchman is now being considered to take charge at the Stadium of Light in the wake of Poyet's departure, according to The Telegraph.

Former Villa boss Paul Lambert and Glenn Hoddle have also been linked with the role.
