Fabio Borini admits Sunderland 'frustration'

Sunderland striker Fabio Borini admits to being "frustrated" at his lack of game time for the Black Cats.

Fabio Borini has admitted that he has been "frustrated" by his lack of game time for Sunderland this season.

The 24-year-old striker returned to the Black Cats in a permanent deal from Liverpool last summer but has found himself behind Dame N'Doye in the pecking order at the relegation-threatened side.

Borini came off the bench and scored a 90th-minute equaliser against Crystal Palace last night and later said that he was pleased that he had been able to demonstrate his worth.

"I got 10 minutes and scored a goal and showed I can give the team a lift," he told reporters. "What I do is give everything I have in me. I have 150% to give because we need everyone doing that extra bit in order to stay up and probably 100% is not enough - we need to give more.

"It is the manager's decision, I always expect to come on if I am on the bench. If I start then I expect to play the full game, it is an ambition to play as much as possible but it is the manager's decision. He gave me 10 minutes and it was enough.

"It doesn't matter how frustrated I was before the game because every player, if they are not playing as many minutes as they would like to, then they get frustrated. But what I do, is work hard in training and if I get five minutes, 10 minutes, 30 or 90 then it doesn't matter to me - I always give my best and the goal showed everyone what I can do."

The point helped to lift Sunderland out of the relegation zone ahead of rivals Newcastle United's trip to Stoke City tonight.
