Stuttgart come from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 on a vital day in their battle to avoid relegation.

Stuttgart produced an impressive fightback to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 and record a crucial victory in their battle to avoid relegation.

Despite dominating possession for much of the first half, chances were few and far between for Frankfurt as both sides struggled to get their attacking players involved early on.

However, Frankfurt could have been ahead before the break had Alexander Meier not volleyed wide after being gifted space to meet a corner in the box.

An uneventful opening 45 minutes was quickly forgotten as the visitors opened the scoring early in the second half through Haris Seferovic, who took advantage of some poor marking to power home a volley.

It looked like Frankfurt would build on their lead until Stuttgart hit back against the run of play when Daniel Ginczek fired home from close range after the visitors twice failed to clear the danger.

Stuttgart were ahead less than two minutes later as Alexandru Maxim drifted into space on the wing before delivering a cross to allow Ginczek to convert his second of the afternoon.

A remarkable comeback was completed late on when Maxim capped off a fine counter-attack with a calm finish to hand Stuttgart a vital win.
