Jonathan Walters says that he is eager to put his horror show against Chelsea behind him when Stoke City take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Stoke City striker Jonathan Walters have vowed to move on from his nightmare performance against Chelsea at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international scored two own goals before missing a penalty, as the Potters were thrashed 4-0 by the Blues at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

However, the 29-year-old says that he is keen to return to good form when Stoke take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

"Saturday obviously wasn't the best of days for me," Walters told The Sun. "I should have known it wasn't going to be my day when I tried an overhead kick and managed to boot the ball into my own face.

"Maybe I should have walked off then. I've never scored an own goal in my entire career and had no idea what it felt like. Unfortunately I'm an expert now after managing it twice in one game.

"If the manager asks how we feel about the Palace game I'll be the first begging to play."
