RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner is reportedly keen to extend his stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of the current season.

RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner is keen to join Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal.

The former Chelsea forward returned to the Premier League in the January transfer window, joining Spurs on loan until the end of the season.

Werner has made a reasonable contribution during his short time with the Lilywhites, scoring two goals and providing two assists in eight Premier League matches.

The German netted his first Spurs goal in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace earlier this month, before he scored in the following game against Aston Villa.

Despite getting on the scoresheet in those two matches, Werner has only started one of Tottenham's last four fixtures.

With Werner's loan deal set to end in the summer, Tottenham must decide whether they want to pursue a permanent transfer for the 28-year-old.

A recent report claimed that Leipzig want to know before the start of Euro 2024 whether Spurs intend to exercise their £15m buy option for Werner.

According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, Werner is hoping to extend his stay in North London beyond the end of the season.

The Leipzig loanee is said to be happy at Spurs and is open to the prospect of converting his loan move into a permanent deal.

Even if Tottenham decide against signing Werner, he is not expected to feature in Marco Rose's Leipzig squad for the 2024-25 campaign.

Despite having a contract with Leipzig until June 2026, both parties appear to be in agreement that his future lies elsewhere.

Werner returned to die Roten Bullen in the summer of 2022, but he has failed to reach the heights of his first stint with the German club.

After scoring nine goals in 27 league games last season, Werner scored just twice in eight Bundesliga matches during the first half of the current campaign.

The forward failed to make Julian Nagelsmann's squad for Germany's upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands.
